Picture Perfect

A magical tune caught my attention when i took the dogs for an extended walk this late afternoon.
I hadn't even noticed the huge tree as most of it was obscured by a massive bright green concrete wall.
Perched on top of the highest branch, tickled by its needles, a magpie- ekster- was whistling away to god knows who or what.
The vast and slightly mirky blue sky as its backdrop and the cluster of pinecones under its feet made it the perfect photo.
Almost cocky did he turn his head away from me, continuing his business.
A magical moment, fully grounded in just that one moment, life was perfect.
And still is. Circumstances don't matter. I feel good.
Happy and graceful for all those perfect photos all day every day, everywhere.
Sweet stuff,
pura vida!!

And then there is yoga

Practise every morning, drink green tea and water, take silent walks, sit at the beach and meditate. Sleep early without intoxicants and focus on the connection with Spirit throughout the day.
My weekly mantra describing the way i truly feel like living my life.
And then there is the turbulence of daily life, other peoples addictions seeping into my behaviour too.
I'm living my life here, surrounded by people adhering to a completely different rhytm, style and wants.
Neither good or bad, just different. A full-on challenge for me to stick to my own wants, more then that: my own needs.

The need to still my mind.
More and more am I becoming conscious to the utter clutter in my head. All the voices saying so many things really every waking minute of my days.
Sometimes it makes me feel desperate, sometimes it makes me feel giddy.
Why oh why do we even listen to all of this. Cos we're used to it, cos no-one explained us in the beginning to stay focussed on your center, instead of focussing on the mind. This powerful tool of us completely taking over our center, instead of the other way around.
Creating space in the heart for observation, that way creating space to focus on the mind and make it our helper, instead of our master.
Easier said then done.
I guess becoming aware of the mayhem inside the head is a good first step, accompanied by a huge dose of laughter and most of all, compassion.
Compassion for my own being, my own human experience.
And awe in regards to the intricate workings of the mind. Never mind the undying energy of those thoughtwaves and emotions accompanying them.

Cos aiaiai, those emotions...
A dear friend of mine told me recently that he found himself completely immersed in the concept of emotions.
I heard him, kinda 'knew' what he meant and am now becoming more and more appreciative for his sharing his revelations with me. This emotions are flowing to and through us at all times. How often dont you stop and think: why am i feeling this or that right now.
Taking over other peoples emotions, creating our own, making the choice - wether consciously or unconsciously- to attach to whichever emotion that is you are currently experiencing.

The other day, I'd made a mistake. A stupid one. It couldve put someone else into trouble - which didnt happen- and escalated in pretty heavy drama.
My fault so to speak.
When this all happened I noticed the physical effect: hot flashes racing up from the feet, belly on fire, raging heat around the heartspace and high breathing. My eyes widening, fingers tingling and voice changing.
And then I realized: i dont want to feel this. This doesnt make me feel at peace and sure as hell doesnt do anything to make the situation better.
Which would be THE time to breathe.

Exept I didnt. I realized what was happening, I rolled with it, I submerged myself in it and after hours of uneasiness (and a cigarette..why???!) I finally fell asleep.
Waking up horribly exhausted, fragile and super-emotional.

And then there was yoga.
The girl I'm helping out tomorrow with the yoga@ the surf-event gives her classes in a nearby forest and i thought it be wise to attend her class last night before throwing ourselves on a stage in front of 1000 people tomorrow.
It was the fuel I needed..
The peace, sturdiness of the surrounding trees and overwhelming feeling of quiet nurtured every cell in my system.
Being able to let all emotions and thoughts come and go I felt my face soften, my eyes shimmer and a sweet smile curling up the sides of my mouth.
Just flowing by listening to her sequence, just following, feeling and being. Nothing more then being there, surrounded by trees and fellow yogis, listening to my own breath..
Peace. Peace of mind, peace in the body, peace in the heart.
It's all good, everytime and all the time.
Living, learning and enjoying the lessons, good or bad.

Peace out sweet fellow humans,
cherish the planet, cherish yourself and
keep flying!!

Esmoriz

Today it's exactly 2 weeks ago that I arrived in the camp.
Today it feels like I've lived here for more then a few months.

Completely submerged in the surfcamp-family and running around like a blue-assed fly helping out every other guy and his dog and generally smiling my way through.
I like this life here.

A wee bit busy, but the circumstances have changed so drastically since I've arrived here, it's gottabe done and it was meant to be, thats for sure..
We were talking the other day how it would've been if I wouldn't have been here now.
Chaos, stress, tears:)
neeeeh, they would've found a way around the fact that the main instructor/owner/boss has her leg in a plastercast..
Nevertheless, i'm appreciated here. Which is a nice feeling.

Slowly I'm finding out the flow of the surf, the waves, the watermovements, the force of nature.
Aiaiai, tumbling around inside a wave, eyes closed-contacts- and breathing out all the way is a new adventure for me and my previous waterfear..
It is not the way to breathe I guess, when you dont know when you'll surface again:)
But years of diving have imprinted this reflex into my system: never hold the breath.
So I learn, live and learn some more. Live it up, learn some more. Love it all..

The word of the massage-sessions I offer here is spreading quickly. 5 to 6 a week, more if I wanted it. But I don't :)
I kinda like a little teeny bit of time for myself in the evening, before collapsing in my own sweet room with no people around.
I escape to the backbalcony, where no guests come and no-one can see me. Here I take my breaks from people. Propped up in a corner, legs in the sun or wrapped up in warm clothes at night. Staring at the sky, checking out the moon and pondering about what the * is happening to me all the time.
Here and there and everywhere, my 10th country this year and home as much as everywhere else.

What is it with  my life that there's always so many people around.
Where I keep saying I crave peace&quiet, time for myself to study and retreat, I end up in buzzing families everywhere I go, beautiful and strenuous sometimes.

In  the next half hour I'm gonna go take the car
-nicknamed the Limo, as the other one is dubbed the Tractor-
pick up the horrendous sandwiches they call lunch here, bring em to the kids on the beach and come back to the house.
I promised Katrijn I'd take her for a spin as she's going bananas hopping around the house all day every day..

After that, one of the surfguides is coming for a massage and after that I'm going to a different surfcamp in the next village to attend a collegues yogaclass in the forest.
She and I are going to provide a yogaclass at a big surfevent coming friday, with a stage&mic and all. So it's better if I know her style a bit so we can work together better.. plus, following a class instead of giving on is exciting me more then I expected haha!!

And then it'll be sleep finally..
Waking up tomorrow for a brand new day with brand new adventures cos yup, here too it counts: better live in the now, cos everything changes ALL the flippin time..
Better not plan and just roll with it.
So this is what I do, as good as I can, staying attentive to all the planning that goes on in my  head all the friggin time. And laughing about it as much as I can.

love and peace to all,
and sometimes please, just take a moment to experience the beauty of our planet, she rules!!
Pura Vida!!
